Oscar Fish Agressive towards me

Question
Hi,  I have 2 Oscars in a 125 gal fish tank. Ollie a 4 Yr. old Albino Oscar who is 14" long and Freddie a 5 Month old Tiger Oscar who is about 7" long.  The big Fish Ollie is great.  The other one Freddie is agressive towards me.  Everytime I clean the tank he attacks me.  I have been bitten. I even hit him with the cleaning tube and he comes back for more.   I'm afraid the bigger he gets the worse he'll get.  He'll leave a bruise on my hand when he bites.  He's unbelievable.  I was thinking of getting rid of him but I'm afraid he'll be someone else's problem.  Will he grow out of this?  He's a beautiful fish to look at but boy is he mean !  I have had other oscars but nothing like this one.
Thanks, Judy

Answer
Hi Judy,
This is hilarious, I'm sorry, but find this funny.  I know that it really isn't, and is a problem.  Unfortunately, he will continue, and nothing you can do will stop him.  For some reason, my Oscar hates my husband.  The minute he goes near the tank, he shows aggression, so would hate to see him put his hand in the water... This happens, why, I really don't know.  My Oscar is friendly with me, I can do anything with him, taught him tricks, and I could probably swim along with him without him biting me, but my husband, forget it!!  More often than not, Oscars are friendly towards their owners, but it just takes one little thing, and they are angry with you for life!  I have heard of this happening to other people.  He is most likely defending his territory, maybe even the other Oscar.  He does not understand why you are cleaning his tank, and sees it as invading his home.  Have you ever tried letting someone else try to clean the tank?  Just a suggestion, he may be aggressive towards anyone who dares put their hand in the water!  Unfortunately, if he is aggressive towards anyone who tries to clean his tank, he will remain this way, and to give him away, God knows what would happen to him.  Some people can really be mean to an Oscar who does this.
I would buy a sheet of plexiglass, or something similar, tall enough, and strong enough so that the Oscar cannot jump over it, and clean one part of the tank, then the other.  Secure it with rocks so he does not knock it down.  It's not pleasant being bitten, and this might do the trick.
Good Luck!
Lynda
