Question
I have turtles and i want to put them in my grandmothers pond that is man-made, which has Kois, catfish, and goldfish. About eight fish in all in the pond. If i put the turtles in the pond will they hurt the fish or will there be any disease tranferred to the fish? Will the turtles eat the algea or do we need to keep feeding them the turtle food? Will the turtles eat the fish food and the fish eat the turtles food?

Answer
Will they hurt the fish? Turtles are nippers and will bite at the find of larger fish, and eat smaller ones.

Disease? Not a big concern here- few diseases affect both reptiles and fish.

Diet? Turtles do not eat algae, and will gladly eat small fish, snails, bugs, fish food, turtle food, etc. Trout chow is a good turtle food for pond use.

Eating each others food? Not a big deal- the turtles eat more protein than the fish do so they may eat each others food some, as long as there is enough for everyone it is no big deal.
