Question
My red-footed tortoise hasn't been eating as well as usual. She eats just a little bit some days and some days not at all.  She has not had a bowel movement for over 10 days. I thought that this could be to her not eating as well as usual.  She has been to the vet a week and a half ago and her fecal lab was negative for parasites.  I have given her a warm soak for about 20-30 minutes every other day but still she hasn't defecated.  She doesn't seem to be straining.  What should I do? Should I take her back to the vet?  Help me if you can...

Answer
I recently found a GREAT Redfoot site at http://www.turtletary.com (also http://www.redfoots.com)

They offer a simple diet plan, easy-to-follow care plans, etc. I could re-write or cut and paste stuff, but you'll get more out of it if you just pop over yourself.

I suspect the issue is a combination of diet, humidity, etc. but the basic issue- not defecating much- really is not too big a deal if it is eating OK and acting OK.
