Question
QUESTION: do turtles hybernate faster with or without a heatlamp
and will they choose other animals to eat over fruits and vegetables
ANSWER: The food choices will depend on what species this is. let me know the species and I can tell you some diet ideas.

Hibernation and heatlamps? Most turtles that hibernate (and not all do) hibernate best at about 40-45 degrees- if they have a heat lamp, they won't hibernate.

QUESTION: its a landTurtle

Answer
Land turtles still do not hibernate with heat lamps.

1. Some land turtles CANNOT and SHOULD NOT hibernate.

2. A hibernating land turtle will be resting in a cool (about 40 degrees F), dark, quiet place- we usually put them in a refrigerator-type box set to about 40.

3. The diet still depends on which kind of turtle it is. Some land turtles eat a lot of insects, others cannot eat fruits, etc.

Knowing it is a lnad turtle, I will suggest trying http://www.tortoisetrust.org for more ideas, or the forum at http://www.turtleforum.com.

If you write me again, please let me know which species this is- Eastern Box Turtle, Hermann's Tortoise, etc. so i can offer the right advice.
