Question
Hi. I have 2 red ear slider turtles. They are about 2 years old. I have them in the same tank. But 2 days ago I noticed some foam in the tank. I scooped it out. But the next day it was back. Is one of my turtles sick or is it normal for the turtles to have foam in the tank? ( I use no soap. They have their own filter in the tank.)

Answer
I can't say. There just isn't enough information here. Normally I don't consider "foam" normal, but I don't know how much foam we are talking about here, if the foam was in the water, or if you have a proper dry basking area and it was there, if there was any specific color to it, what kind of filter you use, what kind of water you use, or even what size tank this is. Most people don't understand that these questions take a whole lot more background than what they are providing in a couple of sentences.

Only thing I can tell you is the obvious:
to get a water quality sample, drain and rinse your tank and decor, refill with dechlorinated or bottled water, change/clean your filter, and monitor your turtles for signs of illness. If there is any doubt about someone being ill, then take them to see a reptile vet.
