Question
Here I am again. I forgot one more to ask you about my two red slider turtles that are a year old. The question is I was told to use spring water instead of city water. So, far I have been using spring water and when I going to get a bigger tank when they get big to give them room to move around. Can I use city water instead of spring water the reason why I said that it take a lot of water to fill in to get spring water and city water is right out my sink that I don't have to drive buy a lot of spring water but if you said it is best for them then I stick with it.
#2 I have  Aqua Clear 300 filter have been used in salted water tank for years and now it sit in a box for five yrs in storage wonder if I can use those filter for the bigger tank. Now I using Repto Filter (up to 20 gal) guess can't use that one for bigger tank or it is okay to use the one I have now.
#3 Confused what watt to get I brought 100 watt basking UVA bulb there are few # watt. I don't know if I have it too much or just right. It right on top of the tank the bulb is hook up with metal cover can't think of the name that you buy from the hardware store that people use for work on cars.

Answer
Water- if you can drink it, turtles can live in it. City water is fine. If it makes you nervous, let it sit in an open container for 24 hours before use to let the chlorine out-gas, but it really does not bother turtles much.

Filter- unless it is encrusted with salt, it should be fine with new media in it. Always aim for a filter for turtles about 2-3 times bigger than the tank, so if you have a 50 gallon tank, aim for a 150 gallon-rated filter.

Repto-filters in general are rather small and useless.

Basking bulb- the wattage is not the key thing. 100 should be OK, but don't bother with UVA- it does not benefit the turtles. Either UVB or plain lighting.

The clamp light with reflector you describe is fine- as long as it has a white ceramic socket for the bulb to screw into. Plastic sockets melt in this sort of use.

Position the basking light so it warms the basking site up to about 90F.
