Heard that turtles/terrapins carry salmonella. True? What does this mean. Have 2 as pets.

Hello Hilary,

Most reptiles carry the salmonella bacteria in their intestinal tract
and that's the main reason why very small children shouldn't touch them at all. But as an owner, the risk of getting salmonella is very small if you keep a good hygiene and washes your hands after touching your turtles.
