My baby Red Ear Slider

Question
I have 2 baby red ear sliders about an inch and a half. They eat fine and they seem really active always swimming around. But one of them used to have bright colored shell and now it seems to look real dried out and he's in the water most the time, so I don't think it can be from sitting under the heat lamp. Is my turtle sick? this is only happening to one of them.

Answer
Hello Alesana, how do you mean the shell looks "dried out" is it just dull in color or is it actually looking dry and crusty?

As they get older their shell will start to dull in color, I am not sure about drying out though, because I do not have medical training or any experience when it comes to this topic. If it is dry or crusty and not just dull in color then I suggest finding a vet, but if not then I don't beleive there is anything to worry about.

Here is some information about red ear sliders and shell conditions:

I didn't find anything you were describing though, but you can see the turtle and I am not sure what exactly I am looking for, not having seen the shell itself you know.

Good luck,
