Question
okay so i found a turtle at a near by park and it wasn't supposed to be living there so i took it home and i don't know what to feed it i have had it for 2 days and i have tried inch worms [didn't like those] and algae. what do i do i need HELP!  i researched it and i know that it is a painted turtle

Hello Lulu,

As for most of the turtles, the painted turtle needs a very variated diet. Your turtle will need both meat and some plants.

Young painted turtles are usually are mostly carnivorous. At this age they eat mostly maggots and worms. And later on, as they grow,
their diet will also include snails, insects, crayfish, leeches, tadpoles, small fish and plants (collards, turnip greens, red and green leaf lettuce and romaine lettuce for example) - as well.
