Tortoise Has a Lump Growth

My tortoise has suddenly had a 'lump' growth. It's located on the side of its head and it's a little pink red in color. Additional info that might help you in your diagnosis is that its head is 'dirty' we tried to clean it but it was way too difficult as it would always hide. Is there any way we can get rid of that lump and make sure his head is clean from the grey slimy substance.

This sounds like an abscess, a pocket of infection. It is generally considered a veterinary issue to get the abscess lanced, drained, and treated correctly.
