Leeches

Question
Hi, I recently found a turtle(I think it is a cooter), and I have been taking care of it for the past few days.  The other day, I noticed that my turtle is covered in leeches.  When I found him, he was missing one of his back legs, and the leeches seem to have made a home in the cavity there.  There are a few large sized ones and lots and lots of babies.  How can I kill all of these leeches without hurting my turtle?  I have heard that a solution of salt and alcohol might work.  Is this true, and if so, will it hurt my turtle?
                       Thanks for your time,

Answer
I'm sorry, but I don't do water turtle questions. I have not heard about a salt and alcohol solution, but I would not try it without getting a solid opinion.

My usual advice for found turtles is to enjoy it for a few days and return it to its home unless you are really willing to invest the time and money it takes to care for them correctly.
