Baby Red Ear Slider

Question
I was in school in the morning when a freind of mine called me on the phone about finding a turtle by the bridge in front of the school, so i rushed over and was there within minutes(I love turtles, and have a one year old cooter of my own). Found the baby not moving but inside his shell scared.
I used a bag as a temporary container for the baby and whatever little water from the small puddle he was in. I put in more water from my school and used a coffe cup as a contained(the bag was spilling).
Since i got home 6 hours later, i have tried feeding the baby, but it seems like he hasnt been eating as much, i even break the pelletes into small pieces, and the skin is white. Im worried, and its been two days and i havent seen him eat.

Answer
Hey Karol,

I'm glad to hear you have such a strong love for turtles...they are incredible animals! :-D

As for the little guy not eating, I will try to give you a couple things to try but I do want you to remember that hatchling turtles are incredibly fragile. You need to remember that if he was captive caught, he doesn't realize that pellets are food. I would try and get some very small minnows or feeder guppies & try those. You can also try putting in some blue berries, or green leaf lettuce.

If this doesn't work, I would recommend you either take the turtle to the vet and have them help you, or let the turtle go back in the stream that you found in it by so it can try and find food there.

Hopefully this will help you!
