red eared slider that was burned

Question
Please help!
My daughter has a red eared slider turtle that she has had for close to a year.  During a water change today in the tank, my daughter accidently put the turtle in first, than put Hot water in with her before mixing with cool water.
The turtle (Lili) immediately panic and tried to escape from the tank.  She climbed up on top of her basking rock and my daughter realized what had happened, she added cooler water.  Lili now has red eye lids and swollen feet.
She is staying at the bottom of the tank and wont eat or swim.  She keeps rubbing her eyes; and tucking her limbs and tail under her shell.  My daughter and I are very upset and fear the worst.  What can we do or  will she heal on her own in a few days?  Please, we appreciate any advice or information you have to offer...
Thanks so much

Answer
Hello thank you for your question. I would recommend that you visit a vet to make sure the eye itself (or both) were not burned as well. Although it is possible that it is just a shock reaction, it also is possible that there are burns that you will not be able to see.
This should not be left to see if it will heal on its own as Im sure you do nto want her to suffer.
May I ask why the water was so hot?

The only real honest advise that can be given here is a vet visit is needed.
please let me know if i can help more.
