My red-eared slider got swollen eye

Question
Hi. I'm Malaysian. Last few days, my turtle got swollen eye but only one eye infected. It didn't eat its pellet. I had searched in internet about the foods and prevention of swollen eye, so yesterday I gave it some small pieces of carrots, but it didn't eat that because I only gave it pellets before this. Besides, I think it cannot breathing properly, kind of hard to breathing. I always clean its tank 3 times per day (I'll clean the water every time I gave it pellets). I put it near the window so that it will get enough light. I didn't know the cause of its swollen eye because I already gave it suitable environments. I just think maybe the reason is it didn't got enough light or the water (without filter) was not clean enough, means got more chlorine or ammonia. Before this, it was a very active turtle and ate a lot as well as it haven't got any infection before. I'm very worry now because it become passive. I hope you can give me some preventions so that my baby turtle will active and eat again. Malaysia have many vet. but not specially for turtle. So, I hope you can give me some helps that can be treated at home as soon as possible. Thanks for your kind attention.

Sincerely, Nik.

Answer
Hi Nik from Malaysia

This sounds more like a vit a diff. meaning you need to increase vit a.
to do this y ou may ofer different foods and more outdoor lights
replace lights with uvb bulbs. When you take it out doors he gets the natural needs that nature provides/

please consult a vet asap to help him breath better as this may be a respritory infection.

please tell me of the set up so i can give you accurate info.
