Light uvb.a heat emitter in a in a one piece fixture from big apple.a fogger which keeps humidity at 80% on one side.substrate mix of eco mix with some cypress and moss.medium water bowl.enclosure on one side 75% the basking area about 90.I was thinking getting a 68 long vision tub by 36 wide 14 high.but its plastic

ANSWER: Hello, you can make your own tortoise table. All you would do it take a book shelf, turn it on the back side, then lay your substrate in it, then add your lights and things for the tortoise. They love this. Since he is not to big yet, this is the most convient way if he is to remain indoors. You can generally pick one up free and it makes a wonderful home.

By keeping the moss damp you will be good on humidity but f youre looking for more, you can add a drip system to the enclosure and that will allow water to drip slowly into the substrate and cause increase of humidity.

QUESTION: I like your idea in fact on I have a bookcase.few in fact.but its not solid plywood.wont they rot from the humidity?
or maybe cause bacteria to build.

Answer
Hi Luanne, You are a great thinker! I should have mentioned that previously. I use indoor outdoor carpet and also seal the book cases with waterproof sealent. Sorry I should have thrown that in.
With the carpet, you can take it out and wash it and let it dry while cleaning out the rest of the bookshelf.  Also when you go to clean it, please use diluted vinegar. This helps eliminate odor and bacteria.  You are on a great track!
