Question
my snake is about 42 inches long im not sure of the age since he was given to me. but i am having a problem as to how much to feed him. in general we feed him 3 mice a week .but he always seems to want more . i dont want to overfeed. what do you recomend

Answer
Hi Bonnie
Your boa is still pretty small for moving up to a larger meal.  But since he is eating THREE mice in ONE week I would try a small/young rat for his weekly feeding. Boas are larger bodied and can handle a large meal than say a kingsnake. Like you said you don't want to overfeed him.  Most snakes get a surge of energy after eating and will act as though they are still hungry.  Don't give in to his "begging" :-)  Try that small rat and let me know how it works out.
Hope that helped and thanks for writing.
