Question
Hello from sunny singapore!!

i recently bought a rabbit...the supplier told me it was a Lionhead Lop. Is there such a breed? Cos I cant seem to find out more about it on the net. Does it have temperaments like a Holland Lop?

The supplier also told me that she wont grow bigger than 1.5 feet. Also told me strictly to feed her with Timothy hay and pellets.
However, seein how she is still a baby (coming to 3 months) I weaned her into rabbit mix meant for babies as well as maintaining her daily feed of Timothy hay and pellets. Ever since she started eating this, she is more active and playful. Am i right to do this?

Secondly, my bunny seems to have a wet nose...I mean, it's normal to have a damp nose...but hers seems to be extra wet since day one...and the fur around her nose seems wet most times. But she eats well and her stools dry and hard..i see not traces of diarrhea.

I really hope u can help me. I'm just a lil nervous caring for a bunny for the first time.

Thank you so much.

Answer
Yes, there is such a breed as a Lionhead Lop.  I am not familar with that breed at all as far as size or temperament.

All of my babies get a food made by Manna Pro called Manna Pro Gro.  It is a pellet that is formulated for baby bunnies and doesn't have all the extra suger and junk that the mixed usually have.  Hay is good and so is the occasional treat of veggie or fruit - for a  complete list of good treats look at www.rabbit.org.  Keep in mind that while I like this website's list of healthy foods and treats and it does have some helpful information about bunnys - I give little weight to their warnings and demands for spaying and neutering. - I won't get into why.

As for the wet nose - bunny's don't have wet noses like dogs do.  This could lead to a serious infection called snuffles and should be treated by a vet.  When I have had to use medicine for this infection I have found that a small animal dose of Baytril antibiotic injectible twice a day for 10 days is the best course of treatment.

Hope this all helps.
