Question
Hello :)

I was at work and my coworkers and I found 5 young rabbits.. kind of a darkish brown/white mix with a little spot of white in the middle of the top of his head (best way i can describe it).. one of the guys took 4 home because he has breeded before but I am not too sure about some things such as feeding habits.  I went to a pet store and got some 'timothy hay' and baby formula as was recommended.. this adorable little creature is about 4-5 inches in length and about 2.5-3 when its resting.. im not sure how to keep it calm (i dont like anything biting me and i picked him up gently but he squirmed a little bit) and i put him back down.. i have a bottle to feed him (also i dont know why i keep saying him bc im not sure on the sex yet) but i was wondering if you could help figure out the age and what to do properly with it because i want this abandoned little wonder to be healthy in about 1-2 months and i will release him into the wild again. I appreciate any help you can give and if i have not given enough info maybe i could find something out for you.

Best Regards,

PW

Answer
These are most likely cottontails, that is, wild rabbits, and the mother only comes to the nest once a day to feed them.  It would have been best to put them back where you found them, unless you know the mother has been killed.

Since you do have them, here's some information on how to care for them: http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orphan.html

If you need assistance, there is a list of wildlife contacts in this article, and you can call one of them for assistance.
