Is It Okay If My Rabbit Eats Paper?

Question
Hey,
How are you?  I have a five-month old New Zealand Rabbit and she constantly wants to chew things.  I found out online at various Web sites that I let her chew magazines and newspaper, so I started doing that last night.  Since then, she has been tearing the magazine (it's a regular, color-printed magazine like the type Time magazine is printed on) and she seems to eat and swallow it as well.  Is this safe?  Please let me know, thank you!

Answer
Magazines are not safe, since the ink that is used isn't animal safe.  The newspaper is if the ink is soy-based, which many newspapers now use.

Plain brown cardboard boxes, brown paper grocery bags and phone books printed with soy-based ink (except the covers) are all safe for her to chew on.

If you notice that most of the paper seems to be in her stomach and not laying around, you might cut back, it isn't good for them to eat lots of it.

Ripping and tearing and shredding is fine, however.
