mini rex breeding and grooming

hi, I'm in 4-H and show and am planning on breeding my three mini rexs. They are a broken blue doe, blue buck, and opal doe.  I was wondering if you had any special tips with breeding the mini rex breed? Do you have any tips on grooming them too? My 4-H leader said lightly rubbing a 50% water 50% listerine solution rite before showing would " finish" the rabbits coat. i am unsure about this idea and wanted a second opinion on this. will it ruin my mini rexes coat?

There really isn't anything special to breeding, except that it is better to breed in the cooler time of the day like early morning or late evening.  

I always use Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner which is for horses and people on my rabbits.  You can also use the show spray they use on horses too, "Peppy" "Grand Champion" and "Show Sheen" --- just use sparingly so it doesn't goop or get sticky.  I have never heard of listerine solution, so I can't say one way or the other.  I would think 4-H advisor would know...
