QuestionHi, I just adopted a rabbit from someone who couldn't keep it. I have read some about the care, but I can't seem to see what basic Vet care they need. Should they be checked by a vet yearly? Do they need any vaccinations. Thanks
AnswerDear Sue,
Congratulations on your new family member!
Like any companion animal, a rabbit should get yearly veterinary exams from an experienced rabbit vet. You can find one here:
www.rabbit.org/vets
Rabbits in the U.S. don't need (nor can they have) any vaccinations, but if you're not in the U.S., write to me and let me know where you are. In some places, vaccination against myxomatosis and viral hemorrhagic disease are HIGHLY recommended.

Hope that helps! Please write back if you have any other questions.
