Question
My 5 male rabbits turned out to be 4 female and 1 male, which I found this out today with 7 new baby bunnies. Two of the females had babies and are sharing the same nest. Is this normal? The babies appear to be maybe 3 or 4 days apart in age judging by the size of them. I have found 3 dead. One was a bigger one found way outside of the hutch. The second was a small one found dead inside the hutch. The third looked like it had been killed. It was bloody, what was left. I was concerned if the deaths were caused by the temperature outside. Daytime it has been in the lower 30s and at night in the teens. We did not bother the babies but we did add more fresh hay to the box and wrapped a tarp around the hutch to cut down the cold. Should we do anything else? The babies seem to be healthy and I dont want to take a chance on handraising them and causing unnecessary problems. Will they be ok in these temps or should we move the hutch to a barn on our farm?  Thanks...

Answer
hi heather first make sure the buck is taken away as he willkill the babies -its starnge two does sharing but if its ok leave them to it.they really ought tobe seperated but how do you know which baby belongs to which adult.?adding more hay was good also the tarp just kepa good eye on them and see how it goes.
