Rabbits fighting?

Question
I am not sure if I had a rabbit fight or if they were just playing too hard... I have had my mail rabbit for 5 1/2 years, and he's always been my himself. Recently, I got him a friend. She is a 6 mo. little lady. The male is nuetered, and I plan on getting her spayed as soon as I find a new vet where I moved. PJ- the Male has always had free roam of the house until the last few months since he has become a baseboard chewer. Last night however, I left both of them out in the rabbit room checking on them periodically. When I came in to put them up, I noticed tuff of fur everywhere from the male rabbit. His ear was also scratched or bitten, and Trixie, the female was perfectly intact! Since I brought her home, they have bonded great! They sleep together, clean each other, and thrash in their cages if they aren't together... So I am unsure if they were just playing, or if they could have been actually fighting. Since I didn't witness it, I am just trying to see if this is normal? PJ has always been a single "child" and now there is another one... Please help! Thanks!

Answer
Without seeing them either, we can only guess that they may have fought.  Since 6 months is about the age female rabbits start to get hormonal, she could have attacked him.

Once she is recovered from her spay, it sounds like everything will be ok.  So until that time, you may want to keep them separated when you are not there to supervise them.
