Rabit bumps

Question
My female 6 year old broken chin rabbit has about 2 or 3 bumps on ther stomach. The first one I noticed about 1 year ago. Now the first one grew and a second one appear. You can't see them just looking at her but you can feel it with your hand. Every morning she wants to be pettet on her belly. They are mostly round/oval and about 1/2 cm.

Answer
Dear Natalia,

These could be abscesses, lipomas, fibromas, or even mammary tumors--especially if she is not spayed.  You will need to see a good rabbit vet to have one of the bumps biopsied, if not removed entirely, to know what they are.  You can find a good rabbit vet here:

In any case, such bumps are not normal.  Since they seem to be proliferating, I would not waste any time in having them checked to see if removal will prevent the spread of something potentially very serious.  She is not too old to be spayed at this age, and if these are mammary tumors, then spaying may help her recovery, since such cancers are often estrogen-sensitive.

If the lumps move freely with the skin, that's better than if they are firmly attached to underlying tissue.  But again, only a vet can tell you what these are with an in-person examination.

I hope this helps.  Please write back if you have any other questions.
