nervous rabbit??

Question
Hi,

My name is sara and my problem is:

my rabbit doesnt seem to like to be touched at all, I cannot even look at her feet without her running into the other side of the hutch and her eyes buldge in fear. I have been looking after her for about a month now and she is not growing accustomed to me. I can only put my hand in the hutch to change her water or food. For cleaning purposes, I have to force her into my hands and allow her to roam around in a small area of my garden. She is reluctant to be mounted by a buck and I just do not know what to do to make her more comfortable. She is a netherland dwarf, cinnamon colour, about 3 months old now.

Please tell me what to do and also tell me what I am doing wrong.

Answer
Is there something about you that scares her?  Do you smell strongly of perfume or cigarette smoke or another scent that could bother her?  Are there dogs or other predators around that could be bothering her?

Sounds like she is scared of something in the environment, and you will have to find out what it is.  Some bunnies never like being handled, and she could be one of them.  If you can respect her space, she may do ok.
