Question
I have a 13 week old lob bunny.  She is just adorable.  Anyhow, she is litter box trained normally, but when I let her out to get exercize she jumps up on my bed and urinates and fecates on it.  Why does she do this?  It is new bedding.  Any way to prevent her from doing this?  Also, I just an xpen for her, but she jumps over it.  Any ideas?

Answer
Dear Melissa,

She's urinating and pooping on your bed to mark it as *hers*, and that's because it's covered with your scent.  You see, you are her property.  (Why don't humans understand this?  It's such a simple concept, if you're a bossy rabbit!)  ;)

The only way to stop this is to have her spayed when she's old enough, but until then you'll just have to either keep her *off* the bed, or cover it completely with a water-resistant mattress pad (one size larger than your mattress should do the trick).

You can find a good vet to help you with the spay, once she's old enough.  Please see:

Hope this helps.
