Occasional cough

Question
I recently took on three house rabbits from my local shelter. One of them, a part-angora albino, occasionally makes a barking, cough-like sound. She eats like a pig, she's boistrous and she runs around doing binkies and generally acting fine, but it's only the odd time that she gets this cough, which lasts for maybe 5-10 seconds, no longer. It's quite a grunty cough, and if I didn't know better I'd think that was what she was doing, but she shakes her head a little as she's doing it.

Where I live we don't actually have any vets who specialise in small exotics, so I'd like to have at least an inkling so that I can suggest to the vet what it might be!

Thank you so much... I'm looking forward to your answer!

Answer
Well, she could have something stuck in her throat or the back of her nose that is causing this, or she could have some sort of lung problem, or she could have a problem with her heart.

They could use an otoscope to see if anything is stuck in the throat and hopefully in the nose, and they may be able to hear a heart abnormality with a stethoscope.

I hope that she turns out to be ok.
