QuestionMy rabbit has recently developed a white discharge out of one of her eyes. The white part of the eye is also red. Is this something that will require a lot of expense? I have not yet taken her to the vet and want to know what to expect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
AnswerDear Amy,
White discharge from the eyes or nose should always be checked by a good rabbit vet, whom you can find here:
www.rabbit.org/vets
Too often, an inexperienced vet will merely prescribe eye drops for this problem, and not check for an ultimate cause, which could reside in the molars. Please read this completely so that you will know what to expect:

It's very important to have a culture and sensitivity test done, if the discharge is pus. Please also read:

I hope this helps.
