rabbit fur changing colors

Question
Hi! I've been a rabbit owner for quite a few years but this is the first time I've ever had this question come up. I noticed my blonde rabbit is changing into a brunette! I have no idea how old she is or what breed she is. I rescued her from a humane society. Anyway, I've had her for two months and she's been a yellow blonde color and now her fur is turning darker brown by the day! At first I thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me but my boyfriend noticed it too. Does this have something to do with a change in temperature? She's an indoor/outdoor rabbit. Thanks for your help, I'm just curious.

Answer
It may just mean her coat is ready to shed out. Coat colours often change (usually taking on a rusty colour) when the coat is dead and is getting ready to shed out. It can also take on a rusty colour if the fur has been in the sun a bit. It is called sunburn, but it is not dangerous or painful like it is for humans because it only affects the fur, not the skin.
