Doe Rabbit Bleeding In Urine

Question
Dana,
I have a 5 month old doe rabbit, and an 8 month old buck rabbit. We keep them separated by wire split down the middle of the same cage. while i was gone on vacation my caretaker had told me that the doe had jumped sides to the boy rabbit twice without being sure how long she was over there with him. Now she is starting to bleed in her urine. Is she in heat or do you think I should take her in to be checked for cancer?

Answer
Dear Emily,

If she was with the male, it is quite possible that she is pregnant.  Please see:

But bleeding is not normal in rabbits.  They do not go into heat. If she is bleeding from the vulva, please get her to a good rabbit vet for full examination and evaluation:

Hope this helps.
