Good sleeping spots

Question
Hi again Lee.  My rabbit's pen is on a softish rug that seems to be fairly comfortable, but I was wondering what the possibilities, if even necessary, were for bunny beds or something of the sort.  I used to have a cushion and some cloth, but he would rest on it, he would just eat it and throw it around.  Also, what would you recommend for good physical excersise toys for Vladimir that wouldn't allow him a higher point to reach that could end up with him escaping the pen (which is about 2 1/2 to 3  feet in hieght).  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Aaron,

you can pick up natural or synthetic wool mats that can be cut to size.  You can get medical pet bedding (like the wool) that to me is even softer.

I'd get enough of either type so that you have two or three of them, so you can swap out the used bedding when you clean his area with a new one.

Exercise toys...well I don't really think there are any rabbit toys I know of I would consider exercise toys.  They are just toys, and if they run around with them, so be it.

You can give him a 'diggy pile' of old cotton t-shirts. Cut the arms and necks so he won't strangle himself.  Some of our guys dig and mouth the shirts for hours.

You can get some hard (not soft!) plastic baby keys they use for teething.  Rabbits like to run with them and toss them around.  There are some wood chew toys that you can get that are safe that again they will chew and eat and toss and move around.  There are wicker tubes or tents that you can buy that they like to run through, hide in and chew on.

Many others, but I know these are well liked. And you won't have to worry about him making it over your gate.
