QuestionI have a 7 month old lionhead rabbit that is pearl color. I noticed a few weeks ago that the fur under her back legs and tail is almost non-existent(her pink legs and veins are visible). Last night I was cleaning her cage and took her out and the fur on her right front paw was gone, exposing her toenails. There is no excess fur in her cage, so I think she may be eating the fur off of herself. What could possibly be the problem? I have 2 of her brothers and her mother and they have no loss of fur.
Thank you
AnswerDear Allyson,
Please see:
www.bio.miami.edu/hare/furloss.html
for some possible causes and treatments. Please also go to:
www.rabbit.org/vets
to find a good rabbit vet, as you might need a vet's advice for proper medication and treatment, depending on the cause of the problem.
Hope this helps.
