QuestionHi Elizabeth,
I have a 1.5-year old neutered, male Lionhead (house rabbit) who has been a dream. He eats well, socializes well and is litterbox trained.
I have read that companion rabbits live happier, longer lives, but I'm hesitant to disrupt our bunny's current lifestyle. Another impediment to finding a match is that our rabbit tends to beat up on a stuffed animal we gave him to play with. I wonder if he might be this aggressive toward another rabbit, who might actually fight back :)
In your experience, have rabbits suffered from living without a companion?
Many thanks for your advice,
Adrienne
AnswerHi Adrienne,
I do believe that your rabbit is just fine with you as his companion. Sometimes when you add another, they bond together and become less affectionate with their owner. I wouldn't change a thing you're doing, sounds like your rabbit is a happy one without another rabbit. Males actually are much happier as the only one, because they are extremely territorial even neutered. So if there isn't a problem, don't fix it! :) take care, Elizabeth
