Question
Hi I hope you can help me. I have a 5 year old dutch rabbit, he weighs over 3kg. For about the last 12 months or more he has been an inside rabbit, as we almost lost him to head tilt and gut stasis, which he had at the same time. He sometimes gets gut stasis and we  treat him with metacam maxalon, and syringe feed. But for the last 7 months or so he has been urinating in his bed,I dont know if this is dribbling out when he is having a very relaxed sleep or not. He also gets the urine all over his scutt and on his back leg areas. I hope you can help.  Thankyou Kerry.

Answer
Hi Kerry,
Was your rabbit doing better as an outdoor rabbit?  Sometimes the major change from fresh outside air to indoor, heated air can cause trouble in a rabbit.  I do beleive that they do better and live healthier lives outside...provided they have the proper housing requirements.  And making that big change could cause them some harm.
Your rabbit peeing can be prevented by putting his food in the sleeping area...they usually won't pee near their food. Good luck with this,Elizabeth
