Question
I have had 2 Netherland Dwarf Rabbits now for about a month and a half and currently have them indoors in a rabbit cage.  They make such a mess I was wondering are they able to survive living in their cage outdoors in Sask. Canada especially during the winter season.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Natasha,
I live in Quebec Canada, and keep all my lops outdoors very successfully.  The thing is this,You can't keep them in a regular cage built for indoor use...you have to have a proper hutch.   The hutch part of the cage is where they can keep sheltered from snow, wind, predators and rain ect.. they need straw for the winter months, inside the hutch. The hutch has to be free from drafts and kept dry...so keep their food and water outside in the run area.  you can buy a hutch,or have someone build you one,it really isn't too hard to make.  You can check out some hutch plans on the internet for tips.
But I wouldn't keep them outside in a regular cage without some shelter to protect them. They surely wouldn't survive the winter...
  hope this helped,good luck...Elizabeth
