Rabbit is hopping funny

Question
Hi, my rabbit was spayed on Friday, November 24th.  She seemed fine but at midnight she started shaking.  She was really jumping around and wouldn't let me touch her.  I called the emergency vet and he said to give her half a dose of Metacam.  She stopped shaking about an hour later.  At 9:00 AM she went to the vet and she had a fever of 106. The vet gave her Baytril and fluids.  I had to feed her baby food through a syringe.  On Sunday she still wasn't eating well, so on Monday morning I took her to the vet who did the surgery.  She is not eating very well and urinating and having significant bowel movements, but she is moving around very strangely.  She kind of takes really little steps and paws at the ground.  I've never seen this before.  My vet us puzzled and is seeking help from other vets.  Do you have any idea what could be causing this?  My rabbit does have some bruising from the clips the vet used to hold her stomach open during the surgery.  I am hoping it is just a little bit of pain and no broken bones.

Answer
Hi Callisa,
This sounds to me like healing pain.  She won't be back to her normal self for a little while,at least 2 weeks.  The major muscle through her abdominal wall has been torn with surgery and this takes a while to heal..the pain is normal.
Sometimes after a major surgery it's normal to spike a fever 12 hours later,as long as the fever goes down. After her fever has reached normal for at least 24 hours, give her one quarter of a baby asprin, twice a day every 12 hours) for 3 days to help with the pain. This will help her heal faster.
Did the vet explain what was causing the fever? Or if it was caused from an infection? If it was definately an infection I would keep the meds going.
I'm not a huge fan of medicating rabbits since their systems are so precious and small.
This doesn't sound like a broken bone.
 I wish you luck,Elizabeth
