Question
Hi my rabbit is 1year old and has lived outside all his days.We also have Guinea pigs outside but usually go in the open cage at night, but not the rabbit.the cage has two levels so theres plenty of space and they all get on well. The rabbit sleeps under the cage or a bush in the garden. My question is,will he survive the winter?

Answer
Hi Douglas,
your rabbit can survive the winter alright as they have very good instincts on where to go to keep warm and dry in a shelter...the problem is predators unfortunately. A predator in the winter is more hungry and desperate to kill.. giving the rabbit a small chance in getting to a safe shelter in time to save itself.
I have heard of rabbits living safely in this way for a couple years, but unfortunately it usually ends in tragety.
 I hope this helps you out,good luck...and Happy Holidays,Elizabeth
