Bunny eating fur urgent!!!!!!!!!

Question
I've kept bunnies for about 12 years now, I recently got a new one approx 2 months ago. She's a 4 month old magpie. She's been behaving very strange tonight. We haven't seen her do it but she's been pulling her fur out and storing it in her mouth. She only seems to do it when our backs turned!!!!!!! I've never seen this before! The amount that we've pulled out is unbelievable, its huge. I'm worried she's gonna choke overnight. Is it a phantom pregnancy and she's trying to make a nest? (without spitting it out????). We were that worried we phoned the vets and they said to spray her with bitter spray! Now that seems a little harsh to me! We've pulled so much fur out of her mouth, honest we could've made a jumper! Am quite concerened, am currently spending the night next to her hutch!

Any advice gratefully received!
Sam

Answer
That is an odd behavior. Pregant or haveing a false pregancy, she would spit it out or build a nest. Is she just holding it in her mouth with it sticking out? IS she bobbing her head up and down? Do you have any unaltered males around? If so maybe she got bred and she is building a nest. Try giving her a nesting box or something like one to have babies in. Fill it with hay and see what she does. If she is swollowing it and not building a nest, then you should give her pineapple juice in her water to help disolve any hair she ingests.
