Question
we purchased a new rabbit yesterday and I need to know about fixing a male rabbit - when do you do it - at what age.  The rabbit is approx 3 mnths old now.  Also, what is the best way to clip the bunnies nails and bath it?

Answer
Dear Pam,

Congratulations on your new pal!  The very best site for All Things Rabbit is:

www.rabbit.org

And you can find many helpful articles on health and care here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/rabbithealth.html

Male rabbits can be neutered as soon as the testicles descend, at the age of 3-4 months.  You can wait a bit longer if he doens't have a companion whom he might impregnate, and use the time to search for a good *rabbit* vet, which is essential:

www.rabbit.org/vets

You can read more about spay/neuter here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/spay.html

A good web site on clipping bunny nails can be found here:

http://www.hrss.net/aar/care/care_groom_trimnails.html

Rabbits should never be bathed unless they have a messy bottom, which is a sign of illness.  For more information on rabbit bathing, please read:

Hope that helps.
