Question
I have a 10 wk old rabbit.  I think it is a boy. I was looking at the loppy eared dwarf rabbit that I want to get.  Can I put 2 boy rabbits together?  the dwarf one is neutered already.  Is it better to have a male and female or 2 females?  And will my rabbit, which isnot a dwarf hurt the little guy?

Answer
You can't put 2 males together unless they are both neutered.  You can't put 2 females together unless they are both fixed, it does work on rare occasions if they were litter mates and together from the beginning of life.  It will never work with bucks though, they will fight when they get older.   If the other rabbit is already neutered he is a good choice.  However before you can bond them you need to get your own neutered.  It is a lot cheaper to get a male fixed than a female.

You can also have a neutered buck and a doe that is not spayed and that combination will usually work.  The only problem is that doe's that aren't fixed are moody and have a higher incidence of dying young due to ovarian or uterine cancer.

As long as all the rabbits are fixed you can successfully bond just about any of them.  Also you don't want to just put them together.  There is a whole process you need to do to bond them.

I am attaching a website on bonding that will help you when the time comes.

Good luck and I hope your new bunnies bring you lots of love.
