bunnies found in flower pot

Question
I have found, three, possibly four baby bunnies in my flower pot. I saw someone else had the same situation. I read somewhere, possibly here, to place two twigs, in an "x" over the nest to make sure the mother comes back to feed them. I have a large standard poodle, whom I have had to baricade from getting near the nest. The big oaf has not gotten their scent yet, but I have still made it impossible to him to get near them. I am concerned for their safety. I want some assurance that my hands off policy is best, here. Please help me to know if I should intervene.
Thanks

Answer
Nancy your hands off policy is the best - the mother will come back if she feels safe and does not smell you on the kits.  Try to keep your dog as far away as possible for as long as possible under the circumstances.

Wild kits are almost impossible to raise by hand successfully - belive me - I have tried and I have lots of experience with rabbits.

Does usually feed the kits once a day - a specially good mother will feed them twice - very early morning and twilight.
