Mini Lop & Dwarf Lop - introduction of new rabbit.

Question
HI, Following our mini lop (male) and dwarf lop (doe) failing to breed, we decided to purchase a new dwarf lop (doe) for our third daughter.  Just wondering the best way to introduce the rabbits.  The breeder said we would have no trouble introducting a third but the initial reaction is not great.  The mini just ignores the new dwarf, but the female has chased and lunged at the baby.  (Naively, probably, we thought the doe would love the little baby).  Would we have any success at all of them all sharing a cage, or do we just accept now that they will need to be separate.  The mini & dwarf share a cage, but we do have one other cage if need be. We thought the male would be the problem (although he is now desexed).  The two older ones have plenty of outside play and really only come in for additional feeding and sleeping

Answer
Two unspayed females are actually more likely to fight than two unneutered males. Rabbits can be very territorial. Your best bet is to have them spayed, then slowly work on introducing them. Some rabbits never will get along with a certain rabbit, or with any other rabbits. Some will get along with just about anything. Rabbits, like people, have different personalities. Some are very social and love company, others are grouchy and prefer to be the only bunny.
