2 month old holland lops missing hair on backs

Question
I have 4 baby holland lops. They are almost two months old and all but one seem to have almost no hair on their backs. Is there something wrong?? Are they shedding?? I took the mom out a couple of days ago. It seems the bunnies bald spots are getting bigger.

Answer
Hi Becca,

I'd take them to your regular, good rabbit vet for a checkup.  They may have a skin problem and/or an infestation of something that is causing them to scratch their fur off or groom excessively.

I'd also probably keep them with their mom (does mom have same symptoms?) until week 10, weeks 8-10 are still in the latter weaning weeks.  If it is very tight space-wise in the cage (and if you don't have a bigger cage for all of them), then it is probably better to keep them separated.

By week 10 you will want to sex the rabbits and separate the boys and girls into two different large cages.

I'd take them to the vet and get them looked at.  And mom too if she has signs of this as well.
