Question
I had my first two new litters, we was go on a trip. Didn't know one was pregnant thought we was getting one pregnant.  But guess she was pregnant before we got her. She had not been with the male so we put the male in with her and the other female was alone.  Well the one that wasn't suppose to be was and had a litter while we was gone on a trip. Mother-in-law was told to take the male out immediately. So put him in the cage with the one that was pregnant.  Then she decided that I don't know which rabbit of mine is male and which is female and put the male back inside with the female.  Then we reassured her the right rabbit was with the babies so she put her in with the pregnant one and this morning before we returned she had babies. So my question is how long after having the babies can they get pregnant again? Surely not the same day they have them.

Answer
Oh Dear Mary

They can get pregnant again within an hour of giving birth.  In fact they are most fertile right after they give birth.  Don't be surprised if you have another surprise litter.

Any rabbits that are not spayed and neutered should never be kept together even if one is pregnant, for that very reason.  Your best bet is to get them all their own cages or have them all fixed.

I am so sorry to have to be the one to tell you this.  Also if you do end up with a second litter before the first one is fully weaned they will need special care.  Please let me know if this happens and I can walk you through it.

Again I am very sorry that someone misled you.  I do hope your rabbits and babies are ok.

Good luck and if you have anymore questions please let me know.
