Question
I was very shocked to see little baby bunnies running about the hutch yesterday. I have not opened the bedroom side of the hutch for at least a couple of weeks as my rabbit had changed her toilet area to the front of the hutch, and with all the rain i have not done a major clean out. Anyway the bunnies are fully formed furry alert and hopping about, yesterday was the first sign of them. One is especially interested in Mums food, and sits in her food bowl. There are 3, what should I be doing with them? Sweets (mum) does not seem bothered if we put our hands in the hutch, can we pick them out to take them to the vet to be sexed? She has shown no signs of disappearing off or of having babies, though in hindsight she has been eating loads this past week and she had lost loads of her fluff in recent weeks, which I checked on the internet and decided it was just a summer molt. we have a boy rabbit too, called Dude, they only got out together once, very briefly, by mistake, I did not realise it would take a matter of seconds to mate. i want to keep one of the babies with mum is this a good idea? Thanks in advance from a very shocked but very proud bunny lover!!!

Answer
hi ali they need to be with mum at least 6-7 weeks i usually feed bran flakes to get them interested in solids which they should be on at 4 weeks.
keep the buck seperated as he might try and bite them.
does pluck fur off there chests prior to giving birth so it was not a moult.
