Question
HellO! I have two baby bunnies.I am at work, my husband called me to tell me that they where playing today and roughhousing like normal, and my lop kicked my dwarf in the face near the eye.He is acting like he is scared now. My hubby told me that his eye is very red. I have not seen the eye, but i was told that its not watering, he seems to be seeing fine. The inner eyelid (or third eye lid) is red as well. Could she have busted and blood vessel like humans do?

Once before the same bunny blinky-ed  into the wall and hit her face and her eye turned red for a while and the when back to normal.

Answer
Hello,

Like you, without seeing the eye it is impossible for me to tell you the severity pf the injury and whether or not your rabbit should be taken to a veterinarian. It is very possible that a blood vessel burst. The best I can tell you is to have your husband use his best judgment about what to do.

My personal recommendation would be to err on the side of caution and take your rabbit to a veterinarian. Rabbits are not very vocal animals and may not always show an outward sign of pain. Eye injuries can also be very serious and potentially led to blindness.

Good luck and keep me updated!
