Question
I just recently noticed a small amount of hair lose and a little moisture by my bunny's right eye.  she is five years old healthy, spayed etc. I was wondering if I should be concerned.  She could have scratched it on something. It looks clear, bright and open.  I don't want to over react but would just like a second someones opinion

Answer
Hi Suzanna,

the fact that you picked up on something this subtle is good.  I would probably take her in to your regular good rabbit vet to have her eye examined (and do a general wellness exam if she hasn't had one in awhile).  You don't want an infection to set in and cause her to lose the eye, or worse, spread throughout the body and become really difficult to cure.

If she does have a scratch or a blocked tear duct they can flush the duct or if a scratch give you an antibiotic ointment to put in her eye to ensure an infection doesn't get a foothold there and do real damage.

Don't wait, get her in as soon as you can to your regular good rabbit vet.  If you don't have one, go to:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

and find a House Rabbit Society-recommended vet in your area.
