Question
Our bunny won't put weight on her left front paw.  A teen friend accidentally got our four month old dutch bunny's paw caught in the cage when she was putting her away.  The bunny got squirmy and scratched our friend who isn't used to bunnies.  Cookie, the bunny, is eating, using the litter box and moving about the cage but won't put any weight on the one paw.  How can I make her comfortable?  When should I become worried if she's not putting weight on it?  What would a vet treatment be if it was broken? Thank you for your help!!

Answer
Dear April,

If she's not putting *any* weight on the paw, then she could have a broken or dislocated bone that needs the attention of a good rabbit vet.  You can find one here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

Please waste no time in getting her there if she's still not using the leg.  The sooner it is treated, the better her chances for full recovery.

She also will need pain medication, and the vet can help with that, too.  You should not try to treat or medicate her yourself.

I hope this helps.
