QuestionI have a 10 month old female(i think)dwarf mixed bunny. She eats and drinks fine. She has developed a puffy soft fat neck. Is this normal for some breeds? I also have a 1 1/2 year old female American Fuzzy Lop and she does not have this. Please help. Thanks
AnswerDear Jeri,
Many female rabbits (and some males) develop a fleshy dewlap: a flap of skin and fat under the chin that kind of wraps around towards the shoulders, in some cases. Some breeds are more prone to develop them than others, so your Fuzzy Lop might just not have the genetics for a dewlap.
A dewlap is normal, and nothing to worry about unless it gets really big, in which case it can indicate that she is overweight and needs to be on a bit of a diet. :)
Hope that helps.
