Question
QUESTION: hi my rabbit is just over 2 and she now has something wrong with her neck it like she has a cold in it or something.she seem to have lost weight too. she was fine 2 days ago . i hope she is not really sick . what can i do for her to make her better

ANSWER: Dear Kim,

It's not clear from your description exactly what is wrong with your rabbit.  But if you mean that her head is tilted, then please read:

and also, for a more technical overview of what can cause this problem:

You must get your bunny to a good rabbit vet ASAP, as prompt treatment for this condition will mean the best chance of full recovery.  Find a vet here:

Hope this helps.

QUESTION: hi can u tell me how long my rabbit will be on meds for her ear infection her head is not as tited but she seems better. tell me please how many weeks she wil get back to normal. thanks soooo much for helping us with my rabbit sam.

Answer
Dear Kim,

I'm glad Sam is starting to improve.

Clearing up an ear infection completely can take a surprisingly long time--sometimes weeks.  I would keep her on the medication for at least one week after the head tilt has completely gone away.

If you run out of meds before that time, please ask the vet to examine her again and prescribe more, if the infection is not yet completely resolved.   If you stop the meds too soon, it will be harder to cure the next time around because the only surviving bacteria left to reproduce will be the ones that survived the antibiotics the first time.

Good luck!
